Spring 2006
Spectrum Productions produces President's Dinner
President Bush addressed a crowd of around 1300 people gathered at the
Georgia International Convention Center on Thursday night, urging them,
among other things, to help re-elect Governor Sonny Purdue. Spectrum
Productions provided all technical production for the event. Image
magnification on four 12' x 16' screens gave everyone an up close view of
the President. Above the stage was an HDTV 16:9 format screen. This screen
was used exclusively for branding. Custom graphics animations were created
for the event and ran in a loop during the program. The centerpiece of the
event was a custom designed scenic nearly 70' Long! The design, intended to
evoke the true American spirit, consisted of long ribbons in red, white and
blue accented with stars, hung from the truss behind the custom screens. The
set was designed by the Spectrum design team and fabricated in-house in the
Spectrum Productions scene shop.
Orlando Office Announced
Spectrum Productions, Inc., a full service production and scenic company is
pleased to announce the expansion of its operation into the Orlando /
Central Florida market.
The new office will be lead by Brian Hogger, Managing Director. Brian's vast
experience spans over 13 years in the audio visual and production industry
to include hotels, convention centers and trade shows. Brian has had the
opportunity to work in many of the major convention properties and venues
throughout the Orlando market in addition to Washington, DC and Atlanta.
In the new office Spectrum will continue the tradition of providing cutting
edge creative thinking, production services, and cross rentals.
Widescreen Debut
Spectrum Productions, Inc., in association with Sean DeFrietes and Zeev
Weisman and under the direction of award winning event producer and meeting
planner Harith Wickrema of Harith Productions produced a national sales
meeting in January at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. Central to the design was
Spectrum's new 50' x 15' video screen. The first two days of the meeting it
was designed to look like a conventional show with five video screens. On
the final night, the room was turned to unveil the true power of a screen of
that size. Weisman created the content that filled the the huge screen with
mesmerizing images ranging from earthly flowers as they bloomed to cosmic
animations.
If the 50' x 15' screen was not enough, the outside screens were inflatable
spheres with video projected onto them. Not only graphics but also the award
winners' names were projected onto the spheres.
The frame around the screen was constructed with 12" x 12" truss. The entire
truss was "toned" with Chroma Q LED color blocks, creating a glow
coordinated with the rest of the extensive lighting design.
"I have worked with this team for a number of years and am always impressed
with their creativity and ability to leverage the latest technology." stated
Mr. Wickrema. "For me it is important to have a team that understands the
need to achieve perfection at every turn."
Back to Back "Best Audiovisual Production" wins for NASCAR Banquets
For the second year in a row Spectrum Productions was awarded the "Best
Audiovisual Production" award from the International Special Events Society
(ISES) for its production of the 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and
NASCAR Busch Series Banquets. The award was presented at a dinner at the
Cobb Galleria Center on March 19th, 2006. Randall Dunn, Director of Sales
and Marketing and Mike DiPalma, Project Manager accepted the award for
Spectrum.
This event celebrates the achievements of the top drivers in the NASCAR
Busch and Craftsman Truck Series. The events were attended by almost 1200
guests and televised to an audience of millions on Speed Channel and TNT.
Spectrum Productions provided all technical production for in-room
production services and the interface between the Speed Channel and TNT for
these gala black tie banquet and awards ceremonies. "This show is all about
video" noted Spectrum Productions technical director Preston MacIntyre. "Our
video engineering had to manage over sixteen input sources including eight
Macromedia Director computers, twelve PowerPoint computers, seven broadcast
and record cameras, four Betadecks, two DVCAM decks and two channels of
Omega MPEG-2 routed to over 26 video displays. Additionally, there were over
40 video rolls in less than one hour of live program!"
"There is a lot of work that goes into a major event like this. We spent
months tweaking the set, using ideas from the whole team. I was very pleased
with the collaboration with our production partner, Spectrum Productions, in
creating the scenic design. Entertainment ranged from live perfomances by
Collective Soul and Lisa Marie Presley to stands ups by comedians Richard
Jeni and Gary Gulman" stated Cory Posoco, Director of Special Activities
NASCAR.
Martin Mac 2000 Performance IIs added to inventory
This award winning
system represents the best audio equipment available in the
professional sound reinforcement market today.
Building on the solid success of the MAC 2000 Profile, the
Performance has been specially engineered for use in theater
and television. It incorporates an array of advanced
features including a mechanized framing system and gobo
animation module.
The framing system on the MAC 2000 Performance II features a
fully automated, micro-adjusting shutter blade system that
enables the Performance to project angled shapes with hard
and sharp edges. For full flexibility, each blade swivels 60
degrees, and the entire module rotates 90 degrees.
Central to the MAC 2000 Performance II is its unique gobo
animation system, especially engineered to create animated
effects such as rising flames, wind swept clouds or driving
rain. The entire animation wheel pivots, which frees
designers to create complex animations that move in any
direction.
EAW KF-300s added to inventory
This custom built podium was designed and fabricated by the
Spectrum Productions, Inc. In this day and age of line array
audio systems, there is still a need for traditional
trapazoidal speaker systems. One system that has become a
legend in its own time is the EAW KF-300. It is a full range
3 - Way speaker cabinet. It has excellent control and
tonality. "These types of cabinets are very useful when a
room is laid out on a long wall. Another advantage is their
relatively low profile, which can be a big help when dealing
with rooms with low ceilings and site lines are critical."
stated company president Preston MacIntyre. "We added these
speakers to fill a market need for high quality sound, with
a brand that producers and meeting planners know and
trust.".
