Spectrum Productions meets
rapidly growing business demands through the divestiture of its
Entertainment division.
ATLANTA, October 9, 2003 – Spectrum Entertainment Concepts, Inc.,
President, Preston MacIntyre, announced today the divestiture of the
Spectrum Entertainment business unit and the renaming of the corporation
to Spectrum Productions, Inc.
Through a deal that was
forged over the last several several weeks, the spinoff sells the
assets, clientele and branding of Spectrum Entertainment. MacIntyre
comments that “This divestiture was driven by the corporation’s desire
to focus its energies on production services. In addition to allowing
Spectrum Productions to focus time and energy on its core business, the
divestiture will also provide an injection of capital for further
expansion and acquisition.”
The newly created business entity has been purchased by the existing
Entertainment division manager, Matt Osborne, and the senior account
manager, Chris Dollar. The management team of Osborne and Dollar will
use the current market-leading position of Spectrum Entertainment to
drive their sales over the next several years.
Spectrum Entertainments Concepts, Inc. was formed in 1988 as Spectrum
Sound by MacIntyre. When founded , the mission of the company was to
provide entertainment services such as disc jokeys and bands for client
events. As the firm grew, the need for production services became
apparent. Spectrum Sound’s existing client base began requesting these
services as part of future entertainment contracts. In 1992, the product
mix of Spectrum Sound was expanded to provide production services for
business meetings, special events and trade shows.
In 1998, the Spectrum Productions brand was introduced and the Spectrum
Entertainment brand was redefined. All production services from that
date forward were sold under the Spectrum Productions brand. Since that
time, sales growth at Spectrum Productions has been explosive. This
growth has drawn focus away from the Entertainment division, but has
enhanced the brand exposure and market share of the Production division.
As the two brands grew, their commonalities in services and
infrastructure continually diverged. Two separate sales forces, two
separate operations and fulfillment departments, two sets of logistical
processes, and a single accounting department operating two distinct
accounting systems eroded the ability of each brand to efficiently
deliver their products. As a result (of this brand divergence and
increasingly disparate operational structures), economies of scale were
not present for future growth. Cost analyses proved that the operation
of the business divisions under a single corporate structure was higher
than the brands standing as independent businesses.
In order to facilitate a smooth transition for each company’s clientele,
marketing arrangements are in place to ensure that all existing
contracts are fulfilled. Each company will also adopt new phone numbers.
During a business transition phase, Spectrum Productions’ phone system
will route callers to the appropriate company.
